Just like the jungle or the ocean, there is a hierarchy, a food chain, a circle of life. Just hope that the predators don't take over!

According to a March 2019 New York Times article highlighting some of the challenges faced by the nation's primary provider of donated fecal transplant "material," nonprofit OpenBiome in Cambridge, MA, "embraces its mission with gravitas and humor"...just like halfhuman.org! It also notes that employee birthday cakes invariably come in one flavor: chocolate.

A recent study from Columbia University sheds light on changes in the human microbiome over time by comparison to those of wild gorillas and chimpanzees.  While not necessarily a conclusion of the study, it is interesting to compare the sad decreasing diversity that is occurring by the dwindling populations of these creatures (whether by way of hunting, diminishing habitats, or Ebola virus) with the decreasing diversity that is apparently occurring with the creatures in our guts over time due to our diets shifting to animal protein and fat.
Onward!
